We will learn more about it at a training session in
November and will have a better idea then what we can actually do. If there is
anything that you would like to see us do, please call Mary Pike at 828-2206 or
talk to any of the other parish nurses and we will see if it is feasible. Other
nurses in our Church Community who will be part of this ministry are Margaret
Eck, Martha Hamilton, Sarah Vowels, Brooke Padgett, and Annette Hobbs.
If there are others in the parish who would like to
participate, please let one of the nurses know and we will make sure that you
are included.
A Note from St. Martin’s Health Ministry: The Meade County Health Department has received stimulus money to provide Shingles and Pneumonia shots to anyone 60 years old and older for $10 for the first shot and $5 for the second shot if given at the same time. Usually these immunizations would cost from $100 to $180 each if you were to get them from your doctor. The pneumonia shot is good for the rest of your life if you are over 65 years of age. Shingles is a very painful disease and can be prevented with this shot. You must make an appointment to receive the shot(s) with the Health Department. Both shots can be administered at the same time. Call 422-3988 to make your appointment. Anyone who needs transportation to the health department, please call Mary Pike at 828-2206 or 270-668-9316 and it will be arranged for you.
